Field Proven Technology

Built on the award winning Eclipse 1 range the new Eclipse 2 digital is designed to avoid proprietary lock-ins, deliver IP functionality, move to latest surface mount technology, increase features and upgradeability whilst reducing hardware reliance. The Eclipse 2 design follows the Eclipse 1 4 RU modular design departing only from its predecessor by combining the TX and RX into one Reciter module. This departure was initiated following consultation with RFT’s customer focus group.

Superior Hardware Performance

The latest surface mount technology and chip sets have been deployed to reduce hardware failures and increase performance. The majority of the market utilize separate boards to provide digital performance, networking, voting,

system monitoring and high RF output. By having one highly powered linux hardware platform, separate high performance RISC and DSP processing RFT has been able to combine all these features on the one controller imbedded in the E-Transceiver imagine this combined with remote IP configurability, rollback facilities and high RF performance the Reciter is the best in class.

Software Driven

The Eclipse 2 is designed to be software driven. Our customers have continually complained of forklift system upgrades or visiting sites to install hardware modules to enable specific features. Through the IP Commander RFT has answered this demand. IP Commander is our software configuration and monitoring software program which enables all the features detailed below to be rolled out, activated or  Modified remotely using IP and if there is a snag just rollback to the previous version in minutes. ROIP Networking is provided through the same Ethernet port. In its basic form the Eclipse 2 is a digital base station working in analogue mode with a firmware upgrade converts to P25 Conventional. In the future we anticipate software upgrades to dPMR/DMR or single site trunking with not additional hardware. The software design is build on discrete function blocks for ease of customization and feature enhancements.

Open Switch interface

Our open interface with API in analogue mode and compliance to P25 AFSI and DFSI standards allows Switched Network vendors to interface to their own switching solution.

Modular design

The Eclipse 2 continues on the its successful modular 4 RU design. Clients are impressed by the ability to swap our modules with the need for a complete change over. The 4 RU configuration is the most efficient use of space with the ability to house 2 base station and a link in one 4 RU sub rack. Additional features include wiring the back plane for maximum functionality such as hot swap over, battery charge/changeover, internal power or other third party applications. The modular design has been extended to the Reciter with internal modular RX, TX and controllers modules for ease of repair and maintenance.

Networking

Ethernet port on the Reciter enables ROIP networking. The networking is configurable using the IP Commander utilising both unicast and multicast packets enabling wide area networking and site management/functions at the same time. P25 conventional networking enables connectivity using the DFSI protocols over IP allowing connection to compliant P25 network interfaces and maintaining end to end encryption. The P25 vocoder is available as an option.
